Gregory Paul Helmuth, 64, passed away after a short illness at St. Joseph Hospital on Friday, August 14, 2020. He was born in Savannah, Georgia and lived his entire life in Guyton, Georgia.
Greg worked many years for Raby Electric before opening his own Florist in Guyton, GA. After more than twenty years, he sold the florist and went to work with James Carlson at JoAnn's Florist in Springfield as a floral designer.
Greg attended Guyton Christian Church. He was active in his beloved city of Guyton, having served on the city council and the Guyton Historic Society, and was instrumental in the annual Guyton Christmas Tour of Homes.
He is preceded in death by: his father, Charles Helmuth; mother, Rebecca Finch; and brother, Charlie Helmuth. Greg is survived by his sister, Lisa (Dale) Brabham; niece, Lauren (Brian) Mulvey; nephew, Dale “Bubba” Brabham; and two great nephews, Trip and Eli Mulvey.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Monday, August 17, 2020, from 5pm and 7pm. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 11:00 am in the Guyton Cemetery. Social distancing guidelines and CDC guidelines will be in place and will limit the number of people in the building at any time.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Rahn, Lynn Rahn, Tony Alphonso, Wilson Lawson, Ashley Edenfield and William Vandiver.
